My advice is as follows.
It is expensive to stay in famous city such as Osaka city or Kyoto city or Nara City.
But you need not stay in such famous cities. Those citis are located in narrow area, Therefore you can stay in intermediate area and you can visit the cities less than 1 hours. but also you can visit more far area such as Himeji Castle pr Biwa lake area in day-trips from the staying area.
Hirakata city area is just middle of those famous cities.
Also there are many histric site in Hirakata and near Hirakata because in old time and also now the area has benn transport intermediate point between the cities.
